Like the Barcus-Berry, the L.R. Baggs bridge system uses a single piezo transducer in a standard violin bridge. I've played, albeit briefly, a Jensen electric violin outfitted with one of these pickups. It has a nice warm tone, and is probably suitable for most applications. I didn't have a chance to evaluate it in depth, but of the pickups I've heard thus far I'd say it's the best bet after Barbera.
One advantage to using a standard bridge is that this pickup can be easily installed in any violin due to the fact that the bridge height can be cut down to fit. This is also a less expensive system (due to the standard bridge and the use of one instead of many piezos).
