 Lili plays great violin, but her debut album is more than just violin. She's a singer with a style of singing and composition that's hard to categorize. Pop/rock, yes, with a Kate Bush feel in places and similar sense of orchestration. But different. Harder edge than Kate. Kate Bush meets Soundgarden, perhaps. I'll get some samples posted here so you can get an idea.
In any case, lots of very interesting violin work within some great songs that are well worth repeated listening (I find myself coming back to this one not just 'cause of the violin but because the music itself is so interesting). Interestingly the album was released on Atlantic, and the production values are so high (that Haydn herself is credited as the album's producer is particularly impressive) that I wouldn't be suprised to find her more prominent before too long if Atlantic gets behind her. Though I wonder if perhaps a smaller label like 4AD might give her more of the attention she deserves.....
