Itzhak Perlman Itzhak Perlman
Perlman picOk, so he's one of the most famous classical players on the planet (and the best, if you ask me). That doesn't mean he can't branch out. Although both of his non-classical albums clearly bear the mark of someone who's technical skill is beyond everyone else in existence, they're fun and interesting. Side by Side is smooth traditional jazz with Oscar Peterson's usual exemplary piano playing, and In the Fiddler's House is high-energy, high-passion Jewish music that you can't avoid moving to in some fashion. Infectious stuff.
