Near as I can tell, Rao only has two albums out (at least in this country), one of which is primarily him (Ettna) and one of which is primarily Glen Velez (Pan Eros). Both albums are the same trio of Rao, Velez, and Gianni Gebbia (a wonderful soprano sax player), and they're just fantastic. Rao has a great rough-edged sound with lots of ornamentation, but still manages to keep the basic melody clear and distinct.
I highly recommend both albums, but that's partially due to the fact that I also play frame drums and tabla, and would be listening to Glen Velez regardless of who was playing with. If you want a violin bias, get Ettna. If you want to get a great introduction to a brilliant percussionist, get Pan Eros. And if you just like great music, get both.
Here're a couple samples from Ettna:

Acqua di Mare (.AIFF format, 297K, 29 second clip)
